Family Promise Update

During January, the Outreach committee is focusing on housing insecurity and organizations that are working to help.

Family Promise of Gwinnett County is a community-driven initiative that unites local resources to help children and their families experiencing housing insecurity regain housing and independence while maintaining their dignity.

Many may remember that we were a host church for several years. Families would stay for a week in our preschool rooms, and the church would provide meals, hospitality and overnight hosts. Since the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Family Promise transitioned from congregations hosting families for one week at a time to families staying at Promise Haven. Their 30 day program provides temporary housing, hospitality from community volunteers, and essential case management services. Families must have at least one child aged 18 or under who is enrolled in Gwinnett County Schools.

The primary goals are to help families earn a living, save money, and find housing while focusing on long-term stability through employment, budgeting, and parenting support.
