Our Mission

The Mission of the United Methodist Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. At Mt. Carmel, we fulfill this mission through life-transforming relationships with God, with one another, and with neighbors.

To Connect

All relationships have a beginning.

  • With God

God is central.

The most important thing we can offer is a transformative life-giving relationship to God through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. God longs for ALL to know forgiveness, healing and hope.

  • With One Another

God chooses most often to work through people. Becoming a disciple of Jesus usually begins within a relationship in which a person shares their own experience of God.

Relationships are fostered in a safe environment for the most vulnerable (oldest, youngest, and marginalized).

  • With Our Neighbor

We give priority to ministries that initiate or nourish relationships between the church and its neighbors.

To Grow

Relationships are a major way God transforms.

  • With God

In the church, we offer opportunities to grow more deeply in their relationship with God.

As individuals, we commit to growing in relationship with God through spiritual disciplines: reading Scripture, worshipping together, prayer, fasting, giving.

We observe healing in individuals, transformed lives.

  • With One Another

We In small groups, we grow by helping one another, holding one another accountable, and affirming the spiritual gifts each contributes. We learn to apply God’s Word to today’s world.

The church is a training ground for healthy relationships and individual ministry. We create a safe atmosphere to practice serving and leading. We encourage take risks, and grow from making mistakes.

  • With Our Neighbor

We trust that the Holy Spirit is at work with and in our neighbors. We are humble enough to expect to learn from healthy relationships in which our neighbors can share their wisdom and needs.

To Serve

Relationships benefit others.

  • With God

We are blessed to be a blessing to others. We expect to grow in our trust in God when we serve the least of these (Matthew 25) and carry out the Great Commission (Matthew 28).

  • With One Another

We serve together in common ministry in ways greater than possible for us to serve as individuals. We also support one another’s calls to individual ministry.

  • With Our Neighbor

God works with and through people. We follow this example when we serve with our neighbors face-to-face.
